Inside the Mind

Ok, I am fairly astute when it comes to etiquette -- I don't always practice it, but I certainly know how to behave in most situations; when you work for the Federal Court, you run into some very sticky situations where a breach in protocol could be job threatening. It's also just fun to watch people try to pick out the right fork at dinner :-). I found this lovely quiz called "Don't Gross Out the World" -- it's fantastic -- and I got 9 out of 11! Guess I'd better stay out of Finland and Canada. . .

"Woke Up This Mornin'. . .

. . . feelin' well, crappy. I stayed home sick for the first time in months. As much as I enjoy a day off, being sick isn't the way to do it. As I sat on the couch staring at my stacks of textbooks, I knew that I couldn't just lay there, so I watched the final lecture of my Multiculturalism class. I don't think I absorbed much, but at least it's over. I'm still up to my neck in Astronomy and Social Psychology work, but I refuse to do it while I'm home sick. It can wait. The right spot of the day was when Dad came by to drop off my Valentine's Day present (chocolate!!) and stayed for a bit to visit. He's still working on the job search, so please pray for him. . .

Well, that's about all I have the energy to type. I think I'll put on a crappy movie and sleep for a while. . .

Okay, I know I haven't posted much lately, but I have been busting my fanny trying to get my Multiculturalism class completed before President's Day. Not for any particular reason, I just want it to be over with :-). I ran across this link yesterday and this is the neatest furniture I have ever seen in my life. If I had the money, I would turn my very sparse front room into a shrine for this company and buy one of everything! I am dying for a couple of these, a couple of these, one of these, and for my pop-culture obsessed self, one of these. Seating, of course, would come from here.

Crap

Long time, no post -- it's been a tough week (and it's only Tuesday). Dad got downsized yesterday and it sucks big time. He's the best man I know and it sucks to see him get kicked around and treated so badly by a company he's worked for for 11 years. I know without a doubt that God has something better in store for him and mom, I hate seeing them go through the struggle to get to it. Our family has been through tough times before - tougher than anyone besides the four of us will ever know - and God has always seen us through and blessed us incredibly on the other side, just as he will this time. We just have to get through the storm -- in the words of Scott Krippayne, "Sometimes He calms the storm, and other times, He calms His child" - but He never lets us go. . .

Yesterday afternoon, I voluntarily went to the dentist for fillings. I had some teeth that were seriously ugly, so I asked my wonderful dentist, Dr. Diana Quillin, what we could do about them and she recommended fillings. It took about 15 minutes and I had no shots whatsoever -- it was excellent! My teeth are now shiny, beautiful, and all one color!
